Why Regular Eye Checkups Are Important for Your Vision Health

Many people only get eye exams when their vision starts to blur, when many eye problems can be detected early through regular exams. At Optom Eyecare, we believe that taking care of your eyes is not just about putting on new glasses — it’s about understanding your eye health as a whole.

Routine checkups allow us to detect early signs of diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and dry eyes, before they affect your quality of life.

Remember: small steps today can save your vision for years to come.

Step By Step

Learn how the eye examination procedure is carried out — from initial steps to follow-up treatment. This process helps us understand your eye condition better and ensure that the treatment provided is accurate and effective.
General Eye Health Screening

1. Before the Procedure

Patients only need to rest their eyes for a few minutes before the test. If you wear contact lenses, you may need to remove them for a moment to ensure the accuracy of the test.

2. During the Procedure

The optometrist will perform a refraction test to determine the level of nearsightedness. You will be asked to read the letters on a special chart while changing lenses to find the most suitable prescription.

3. After the Procedure

The test results will be shared immediately. The optometrist will recommend whether you need new glasses or a prescription adjustment, along with daily vision care guidelines.

1. Before the Procedure

Patients are encouraged to bring their existing glasses or contact lenses and a list of medications they are taking. This helps ensure more accurate examination results.

2. During the Procedure

The optometrist will check visual acuity, eye movement, focusing ability, and the external and internal health of the eye using special optical equipment.

3. After the Procedure

The results will be explained in detail. If there are early signs of eye problems, the optometrist will recommend preventive measures or adjustments to the eyeglass prescription.

1. Before the Procedure

The patient will be asked to share their medical history and any symptoms they are experiencing, such as blurred vision or light sensitivity. This helps the optometrist understand the initial risks and determine the appropriate type of test.

2. During the Procedure

The examination involves an intraocular pressure test, examination of the crystalline lens and retina using a slit lamp or special camera. The process is painless and only takes about 15–30 minutes.

3. After the Procedure

The optometrist will explain the results of the examination and, if necessary, provide a referral to an ophthalmologist. The patient will also be given advice on eye care and the frequency of follow-up examinations.
